How to Get Apple Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro Board

Final Cut Pro X is Apple’s advanced video editing, processing, and output software. Some notable movies made using Final Cut Pro include The Social Network, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
Our video editor using the software calls it “iMovie on steroids”. Although it is intended for professionals, we think that anyone who enjoys making home movies will enjoy it. If you’re already using iMovie, you’ll find it familiar, but with many more features, and tools to explore.
Final Cut Pro was upgraded from Final Cut Pro 7.0.3 to Final Cut Pro X back in 2011 and the current version is Final Cut Pro X 10.4.8. Apple offers an extended free trial for new users as well as those currently using older versions of the software before FCPX.
However, we recommend that if you are currently using Final Cut Pro 7 and are upgrading from a trial version, you should back up your libraries first. This is because when you start using the trial version of FCPX, your existing libraries will be converted to new software, which means you won’t be able to downgrade them again later.
If Final Cut Pro is iMovie on steroids, then Logic Pro X is GarageBand on steroids. It is a digital audio workspace that offers software tools, audio effects, and recording tools for music synthesis.
How to get a 90-day free trial of Final Cut Pro
Final Cut Pro X usually costs £299/$399 here, but Apple offers a 90-day trial.
To run Final Cut Pro X, you will need at a minimum:
- MacOS 10.14.6 or later
- 4 GB RAM minimum (8 GB recommended)
- 256 MB video memory
- Graphics card that supports OpenCL or Intel HD Graphics 3000 or higher.
- 3.8 GB disk space
For more advanced features like 4K editing, 3D titles, 360° video editing, VR headset support, etc., you will need:
- 1 GB VRAM
- Discrete graphics card (ideally AMD Radeon RX 580 graphics card)
- macOS High Sierra or later
- SteamVR
Here’s how to download the trial version regarding how to get Final Cut Pro for free.
- If you’re already using an older version of Final Cut Pro (pre-FCPX), back up your libraries.
- Visit the Final Cut Pro Trial page here https://www.apple.com/final-cut-pro/
- Enter your name and email address
- Click on the download tab and the trial version of the software will be downloaded. This is a 1.15GB download.
- Once downloaded, you will find the disk image in your downloads folder on your Mac.
- Double-click the installer package and install it on your Mac.
- At the end of the 90-day trial, you will be prompted to get the full version.
Apple states that “If you are already using a licensed copy of a previous version of Final Cut Pro X, you will be prompted to update the library the first time you run the trial application. It is recommended that you back up your libraries before upgrading. After updating a library, you must update your licensed copy of Final Cut Pro to access the updated libraries after the 90-day trial period has expired.”
How to get a 90-day free trial of Logic Pro
Apple will also offer a free 90-day trial of Logic Pro X, typically £199/$299 here. If you have already started your free 30-day trial, it will automatically renew for another 90 days.
To run Logic Pro X, you will need at least:
- macOS 10.13.6 or later
- 4 GB RAM
- Graphics card that supports OpenCL or Intel HD Graphics 3000 or higher
- 256 MB video memory
- Minimum 6 GB of disk space or up to 63 GB of disk space for a full installation of Sound Library
